The Midcounties Co-operative is a business owned by its members. The members elect a Board of Directors who ensure that:
- High quality services are delivered to our members and customers.
- We respect the environment and trade to the highest ethical standards.
- Support is given to our local communities.
You control your membership. You can be involved as much or as little as you like. From simply using the Midcounties businesses, including The Co-operative Childcare, to becoming a Board Director.
As an organisation that is owned by its members, co-operation is central to our purpose. Our members have the opportunity to tell us what is important to them, and we listen to and act on their comments. Members decide what percentage of our profits are returned to the members and to the local community.
When you become a member, we will send you a membership card and all the information you need to make the most of your Co-operative Membership. You can also open your share account online. The initial £1 payment necessary to open the account will be deducted from your first share of the profits payment.
We know childcare is expensive but we also pride ourselves on our nurseries being a fantastic place for your child to flourish and develop that’s why we do all we can to help with money matters. If you choose to place your child with us and become a member you will receive 1 point for every £1 you spend on nursery fees, effectively money back in your pocket twice yearly.
At certain points throughout the year, as determined by the board of directors of the society, the points you have earned during the qualifying period will be converted to a cash value at a rate determined by the board. The total cash value of all the points earned is approved by members as a distribution. Vouchers for the cash amount earned in pounds, and redeemable against purchases in Midcounties branches and our affinity partners branches will then be sent to members
Receiving your payment
We will only pay your share of the profits if the value of the points you have earned is greater than the minimum limit for payment, which varies each trading period. If the value of the points you have earned is less than the minimum limit for payment we will roll this amount over as a balance carried forward and add it to the points you earn in the next trading period. Your share of the profits will be paid to you in whole pounds as vouchers. Any pence amounts will be carried forward and added to the share of the profits payout in the next period.
