Children learn how to care for the environment with secret garden

Children at The Co-operative Childcare nursery in Croydon have been learning about the environment by caring for flowers in the nursery’s new ‘secret garden’ this week.

Colleagues and children at the University Hospital nursery on London Road studied plants and bugs in the specially built garden, and the children learnt how to care for them and what they need to help them grow.

Kidderminster nursery celebrate their graduation

Children at our Co-operative Childcare nursery on Coventry Street donned their gowns and mortar boards as part of a graduation ceremony to celebrate their progression to primary school in September.

Proud parents were invited to enjoy the day with their children, celebrating with homemade cakes and buffet food. The children also received a certificate to take home.

Sally Mayer, Head of Nurseries at The Co-operative Childcare talks about the next steps after GCSEs…

“So you’ve just finished school, you’re waiting on your results and asking yourself – what next?

“I remember being there. You’ve got some ideas, but it all seems so final. Your next steps take you in one direction, but what if it’s the wrong one? There’s so many options out there for young school leavers these days – it’s important to get it right.

“Start with what you’re good at, and what you really enjoy. Get everything down on a page and begin thinking about how those skills and traits transfer into the world of work. For example – if you’ve put down that you’re kind, caring and hardworking and your ideal job would be diverse, with no one day the same – you’re actually pretty suited to a career in childcare!

Newburn Nursery gets Nursery World Nomination

A Newburn nursery has been nominated for a national award following a series of charity fundraising activities to support a local Marie Curie Cancer Care hospice which provided care to a parent of one of its children.

Colleagues and children at The Co-operative Childcare nursery on The Waterfront made the shortlist for the Community Support prize at the Nursery World Awards after raising almost £4,000 for the hospice in Newcastle.
