A Charlton nursery has achieved top-rate results after an ‘Outstanding’ Ofsted inspection rating thanks to its “excellent” range of learning opportunities and colleague’s strong relationships with children.

Inspectors commented that children at The Co-operative Childcare, based on Sherington Road, develop “excellent thinking and investigative skills”, which prepares them for pre-school. Children were also praised for being “highly independent in managing their personal needs”.

It was noted that “children are provided with a great range of experiences”, which encourages their natural curiosity to learn, and they “make excellent progress from their starting points”.

The report also championed the nursery’s strong relationship with parents, as colleagues ensure they are fully involved in their child’s care, learning and progress.

The Co-operative Childcare cares for children from three months to five years old, with each age group having their own personalised rooms to aid their development. Inspectors commented that “the environment is extremely engaging” and that children are “highly engrossed” in their play.

Connie Cousins, nursery manager of The Co-operative Childcare in Charlton, said: “Over the years we’ve helped children reach their full potential and we will continue to create strong relationship with parents to make sure children are thriving both in and out of the nursery.

“All colleagues are encouraged to take regular training courses to benefit the children’s learning, as well as develop their own skills. This not only enhances teaching practices but as a result, all of our children thrive and display high levels of confidence.”
