LEAMINGTON NURSERY AWARDED ‘GOOD’ OFSTED RATING

Our Leamington  nursery has achieved a glowing report from Ofsted which resulted in a ‘Good’ rating in its recent Ofsted inspection following a recent £200,000 investment to merge two of the town’s Co-operative Childcare nurseries.

Inspectors commented that children at the nursery, based on Upper Grove Street, are highly artistic and build upon their “creative and imaginative skills” through play. They were also impressed by how confidently “children express themselves and share their ideas”, which builds a strong foundation of skills ahead of pre-school.

The Co-operative Childcare was praised for its partnership with parents to promote healthy living, its nutritional menu and how colleagues teach children about the “importance of a healthy lifestyle”. Outdoor equipment, including a climbing frame and a wooden house, were also championed as helping children explore their surroundings and helping them keep active.

The nursery has recently introduced a new bike school programme, to help pre-school age children develop their skills and confidence as they learn to ride a bike. Delivered through partner Islabikes, children will have access to the nursery’s balance bikes when they are ready, before progressing to pedal bikes.

The ‘Good’ Ofsted rating follows the merger of the chain’s Upper Grove Street and Spencer Street nurseries, which marked The Co-operative Childcare’s commitment to investing in its 44 sites throughout the country, as the provider aims to go above and beyond the quality standards set out by the industry.

Leanne Bowen, nursery manager of The Co-operative Childcare in Leamington Spa, said: “We’ve helped children to develop their skills and prepare them for life outside of the nursery and we’re so pleased this has been recognised in the recent inspection. We encourage our children to talk about their home lives, cultures and share languages to shape them into the supportive adults we know they’ll become.

“We’re dedicated to working alongside parents and local community groups to help children develop healthy habits and make sure they are keeping active both in and outside of the nursery.”
