Day Nursery Burnley

Welcome To The Co-operative Childcare

About our nursery

At The Co-operative Childcare nurseries, we never underestimate how difficult a decision it is to leave your child in the care of others and our aim is to ensure that you have all the information you need to make this very important decision.

The Co-operative Childcare Burnley nursery is a stimulating, safe and secure environment for your child and we pride ourselves on our warm and welcoming atmosphere.

We have three spacious rooms; 3 months -2 year olds, 2-3 year olds and 3-5 year olds who are able to freely access the garden areas at any time. All rooms are attractive and welcoming displaying our children’s work and are regularly updated to maintain our children’s interests.

What our parents say

Camerson started school September 2012 and had a brilliant head start with the literacy and phonetics due to the learning at nursery. He can now read only 5 weeks into school and it has given him huge confidence and he just loves reading and challenging himself daily. Thank you.

Molly has now started school and has taken with her wonderful knowledge of rhyming words, bleding and identifying letters within her name. Before leaving nursery Molly could identify most letter sounds at the beginning of words and end. Definatley has the foundation for school. Thank you.

A massive thank you to everyone who has looked after Ruby and Alfie in the past years. I cant tell you how reassuring it has been as working parents to know that our children have been in your care. All staff have been incredibly kind and encouraging with Ruby's development. Im sure she will miss you all.

The care my daughter receives is second to none. Her key person is fantastic. She absolutely loves coming to nursery to play and enjoys all the fun activities provided. Sometimes she doesn't want to leave. Nursery provides her with a stimulating, loving environment.

What we do

Activities

There are many activities in addition to the core learning and play that takes place at the nursery Burnley and supports the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Framework. These activities are planned in advance and occasionally with parent participation.

The childcare nursery supports many initiative such as ECAT (Every Child a Talker), a programme designed to raise children's achievement in early language development from birth to five years of age. There is also a qualified speech and language support worker who supports our colleagues in developing a ‘talk–rich’ environment. The nursery also supports ‘Communication Friendly Spaces’, an initiative that focuses on the role of the environment in supporting speaking and listening skills, emotional well-being and general engagement.

A link has been established with the local Mobile Library bus which attends nursery every two weeks for the children to access and choose their own books to read within nursery or at home. The children also have many opportunities to visit the local amenities on supervised outings with the day nursery team.

Our People

Our team of 22 colleagues have a wealth of experience in childcare and have attended a variety of training courses to enhance their knowledge and understanding. This enables them to provide the best possible care and learning experiences for our children. All our colleagues are qualified or working towards their qualifications and together they have over 100 years of experience in childcare. Our Nursery Burnley Manager Andrea Lord has worked in childcare for over 15 years and together with our dedicated team of professionals, supports our children to learn and develop as individuals in a friendly, caring environment.

Outdoor Facilities

The children have access to their own garden areas in our day nursery which are secluded and secure. There is a good range of adult led and child initiated activities both indoors and outdoors and the children have the opportunity to access the outdoor environment as freely as they like, including all weather conditions.

There is a drop off and pick up point at the side of the nursery building.

Parents as Partners

The parents have an information board located in the reception area which has a variety of useful information and includes our parent representatives of the nursery. There are also room notice boards throughout the nursery which have information about events planned and educational information for parents and carers. In the various 0-3 year olds home rooms they have a feedback sheet which includes the children’s daily information of how they have been, including sleep, food, nappies, time that they have had their teeth brushed and anything that they have enjoyed during the day. We also ensure that thorough verbal feedback is also given as in the 3-5 year olds room. Regular newsletters are sent to parents to keep them updated on up and coming events at the Burnley nursery and we encourage parent participation in many of them. Parents’ evenings are offered at regular intervals throughout the year where the child’s key person discusses the child’s development with their parents. There is also an annual survey for parents to give structured feedback on all areas of the day nursery.
