Day Nursery Burton

Welcome To The Co-operative Childcare

About our nursery

At The Co-operative Childcare we never underestimate how difficult a decision it is to leave your child in the care of others and our aim is to ensure that you have all the information you need to make this very important decision.

The environment plays a key role in supporting and extending children's learning and development. Children at The Co-operative Childcare Burton nursery may choose to play indoors or outdoors as we operate a 'free flow' system, giving the children space and resources for physical development, indoors and outdoors.

What our parents say

Lovely friendly atmosphere, Ella loves coming to nursery.  She is well cared for and I am very happy with her development. She has the opportunity to mix with other children and I feel that her social skills are benefiting from this (she is an only child.)  The meals are fantastic and I would highly recommend this nursery to others.

Reliable, honest and very caring are the first things that come to mind. They have proven to be very accommodating and thoughtful to our needs regarding our child.  Don’t know if I could rate them high enough. Fantastic experience.

Fantastic nursery. Really care for the children.  Really go the extra mile- nothing too much trouble.

All staff are very friendly and helpful. Any concerns or issues are dealt with in a timely manner. The children always appear happy.

The staff are very friendly, helpful, caring. This is my second child at this nursery and both children loved it.

I would recommend to everyone.

The Queen's Hospital Day Nursery is like a home from home environment.

The nursery has really supported my son's knowledge and understanding about caring for the environment which I strongly believe is helped by the opportunity he is given to explore outside in all weathers.

My son has become a confident, caring and sociable child which assures me and his mum he is ready to take on his next challenge of school.

The nursery really do care, it’s not just a job for them. I feel confident that both children are having the very best experiences and attention. I would not leave them with anyone else. Exceptional in every way is all I can say!

Excellent staff and environment for my daughter.

My first son has been in a few different nurseries before moving to Co-op childcare. I have first-hand experience of other nurseries due to the above reason, so compared to other nurseries I have used this one has excellent staff whom are approachable and provide excellent care.

An excellent nursery. Staff are kind, caring at nurturing. The atmosphere is always warm and friendly and you are always made to feel welcome. I know my opinions are taken into account and I am always asked and encouraged to contribute to my daughters learning and development. Together we share her special experiences.

I would recommend this nursery because of the variety of experiences they provide for the children. The knowledge and experience the staff have and also the individual care and support they have given to my child.

This nursery looked after my first born over 9 years ago; they were fantastic, lots of staff still there who now look after my other two. My children had and have a secure productive learning environment. My children are very well cared for, my eldest son was the one who encouraged me to send out two girls there as he said he loved his time at the nursery and there were always lots to do. They will never get bored, he was obviously very happy there to remember all of this. He now is able to fetch his sisters now he is older and loves going back. A wonderful place.

Friendly, approachable, welcoming staff. Excellent security policy and staff follow this policy strictly. Staff go out of their way to support child and parents if any additional issues such as eating/meals. The staff take a genuine interest in each individual child. My child has attended since 13 months old. I trust the staff 100% in the care of my child and will be sad my son leaves for school in Sept!

Our daughter Gabriella has just started at The Co-op day nursery. She fitted in straight away. She was made to feel very welcome, staff are excellent. Menus are fantastic and give good healthy meal options. Activities are child led. The nursery is very clean and welcoming. Gabriella especially loves the chickens and the sandpit!

I am very happy with the quality of care the nursery provide for my two young daughters. The girls feel welcome and love coming to play/learn alongside their friends and peers. Staff are extremely friendly and always meet my childrens needs with high standards and have helped the children further in all aspects of their development. The manager is very flexible with sessions and very approachable/friendly. All staff follow personal requests and overall I feel the nursery is outstanding and would highly recommend.

What we do

We are guided by the Early Years Foundation Stage and the nursery team aim to deliver individualised learning, development and care that give children the best possible start in life via our stringent Key person approach. Activities are selected to offer first hand experiences that allow children to build on their natural curiosity, develop language, use their imagination and develop positive relationships.

Our People

Our dedicated nursery team of 23 colleagues are passionate about their work and have been carefully selected for their experience and qualifications. The majority of the team hold a level 3 qualification, the few who do not, currently hold a level 2 qualification and are striving to achieve their level 3 within the year. Our Nursery Manager Leanne has over 12 years experience in childcare. All of our team have positive attitudes towards diversity and treating each child as an individual, and they support our children to learn from a young age. Teaching them about the value of diversity, themselves and how they can make a positive contribution to society.

Outdoor Facilities

There are a good range of adult-led and child initiated activities available indoors and outdoors. They have opportunities to explore and set themselves challenges with close supervision. Our excellent outdoor area is imaginatively resourced for activities such as role play, gardening and creativity. The children are able to access the outdoor area in all weathers as our newly built canopy provides shelter and shade at all times.

Parents as Partners

Excellent liaison with parents and carers is crucial to having an understanding of their children’s needs and interests in the context of their family background. We strive to make parents feel welcome and involve them as partners in their child’s learning and development. During induction to our nursery we celebrate their child’s journey so far by asking them to share as much information with us as possible to establish a starting point for the nursery team to begin making a contribution to their child’s learning. We have many ways to keep our parents informed of their children’s progress and nursery developments, our dedicated parent notice boards, newsletters, questionnaires, parent representative board, verbal communication, informative displays, daily summary sheets, link books, open evenings and social events are just a few examples. We operate an open door policy, and our approachable management team are always open and receptive to parents and carers suggestions for improvement.
