Welcome To The Co-operative Childcare

About our nursery

At The Co-operative Childcare nurseries, we never underestimate how difficult a decision it is to leave your child in the care of others and our aim is to ensure that you have all the information you need to make this very important decision.

The Co-operative Childcare nursery is a stimulating, safe and secure environment for your child and we pride ourselves on our warm and welcoming atmosphere. We have three bright and spacious rooms; one room for younger 0-2 year olds, one room for our 2-3 year olds and our final room for our more active 3-5 year olds. All rooms in our day nursery have direct access to the outdoors allowing our children to freely move between their rooms and the garden whenever they wish.

What our parents say

I would just like to say how wonderful the ladybird staff were settling my daughter Imogen into the nursery. She already looks foward to coming to see you and it is only her second day. What a wonderful caring and professional team.

Haider loves coming to nursery and feels secure with all the ladybirds staff, which makes me feel free to leave him to go into my room without concern. staff are very understanding and lovely.

Fantastic nursery, absolutely top class staff, could not have asked for better childcare for my child. Really helped her to come on alot. Just a fab place to come. Mia will miss it.

The staff have really brought Evie out of her shell and she has really enjoyed her time spent at nursery. She will miss all the staff lots.

I would recommend this nursery to everyone, it has a highly motivated caring staff team who are striving for the best for the children in nursery. Staff are very friendly and highly qualified. Nursery is bright, clean and stimulating with a lovely outdoor area. Children who attend progress ready for school. Staff have excellent partnerships with parents and children who attend nursery. Staff plan individually for children's needs and interests ensuring your child every need in met.

I am so pleased that I chose this nursery for my son to develop. Staff are very caring and always have time to listen to you. They work very hard to include parents in the completion of the child's profile and along with open days and parent activity days within nursery, you know what your child is learning and how they are developing. As you come into the building you cannot gain access until you are buzzed in by a staff member so that people cannot just walk around the building. The rooms are bright, inviting and very clean. You are always greeted with a smile and my child will run off straight away to find his friends.

The staff are very friendly and helpful. My child is learning very well through different indoor and outdoor activities. The facilities and resources are great and age appropriate. The nursery provides nutrition and a healthy diet.

My child is extremely happy at the nursery. He is able to express himself freely and is constantly involved in all of the activities and has lots of fun. His skills are vastly improving daily and he is learning many new things.

The staff are so friendly. My child attends full time and loves the nursery, and is excited to go every morning.

We are extremely pleased with the progress our son is making at nursery and the amazing level of care that is provided. He loves being at nursery and it's obvious he loves his time there. We are incredibly grateful, many thanks to everyone.

They are an excellent team with the needs of the children at the heart of everything they do. You always feel you can leave your child with them and theyt will be safe and very well looked after.

My little boy has been at this nursery since he was 8 months old. He is now nearly 4 years old and he has always been happy and content at nursery. As a parent I have always felt involved in his development and can go to work everyday knowing that my child is leanring well, kept say and happy.

Absolutely fab nursery. Both my boys have attended and have been very well cared for. They are happy here and never want to leave as they have so much fun.

This nursery is brilliant. My daughter is always happy to go and when she comes home she always tells me about all the activities, stories and things she has done and learnt. As a parent I feel comfortable leaving my daughter here and I know she is safe and happy.

Thank you so much for all your help, smiles and laughs while you have been my daughters key worker. As her mum, I want to say a huge thank you and I can't express how much I appreciate everything you have done. I can't believe this is it! but I'm sure she will thrive at school and in the future because of all the love and time you have given her. Thank you for everything and I wish you all the very best in the future. Kayleigh A

Thank you so much to all the amazing team of coop childcare for looking after my child for the past 3 years. Actually I cannot thank enough all you guys for giving my child strong foundations to achieve more with a lot of confidence throughout the coming years. His key workers in the babies, in the butterflies and in pre-school, you guys have been so kind and cooperative with his home routines which made my child look forward to coming to nursery everyday. All we can say, he has been under care of fantastic people and an amazing team. Well done you all xxx

I think all the staff are very welcoming at nursery, made my daughter very confident. She looks forward to coming into nursery and enjoys it.

We would just like to say thank you as you were there from the beginning when my daughter was 2 years old and she took to all your staff very easily. Thank you for making her feel welcomed, I know she will miss you all. We hope to see you in January when my son starts.

I'm really pleased with my daughters progress since she has started at the nursery. The staff are brilliant with her and are very encouraging. My daughter talks about the staff when she knows she is going to nursery in a positive way.

I really can't thank you all for the care you have all given to both of my sons. They have come along amazingly in the past year and you all deserve credit for that. Knowing they were with you guys meant I never had to worry about them when I was at work. I cannot recommend you highly enough to anyone who will listen. I know my boys will miss you all and should I return return to work in the near future, you all will be my first choice for them to come to. Thank you so much again

I can not express in word how thankful I am for being a guiding light, finding strengths, driving away fears, inspiring, being encouraging and above all being you!

To everyone at The Co-operative Childcare Dewsbury, thank you doesn't seem adequate for the gratitude I want to express for the love, care and sensitivity you have all shown my daughter for the past 4 years. She has grown into an intelligent, confident and thoughtful little girl under your care and I know she (and I) will really miss everyone when she leaves. You are a very special team who go above and beyond for the children in your care and I feel extremely lucky that my children have both had the excellent start in life that you provide.

My son has settled really well at nursery and really enjoys coming. The staff are always friendly and welcoming. I would recommend it to anyone looking for childcare.

I have nothing but good words towards this nursery and it's excellent staff. A very high standard is maintained throughout the year in all areas.

What we do

There are many activities in addition to the core learning and play that takes place at the nursery and supports the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Framework. These activities are planned in advance with each child’s individual needs and interests accounted. The nursery is also involved in initiatives such as ‘Every Child a Talker’ (a programme designed to raise children's achievement in early language development from birth to five years of age) and the CLLD project (communication, language and literacy).

Each week rooms will be starting a exercise, movement and music session.
This may be outdoors or in depending on the activity.

Activities will include – stretching, dancing, running, movement, listening skills, hand eye co-ordination.

The activities will be adapted depending on the age group

This will support physical development and exercise for children.

Physical development involves providing opportunities for young children to be active and interactive; and to develop their co-ordination, control, and movement. Children must also be helped to understand the importance of physical activity, and to make healthy choices in relation to food.

Our People

Our nursery team are friendly, approachable and have attended numerous training courses to enhance their knowledge, enabling them to provide the best care and enjoyable learning experiences for our children. All colleagues are NVQ level 3 qualified or working towards their qualifications. Our Nursery Dewsbury Manager Joanne has a Foundation degree in Early Years and there is a dedicated, loyal team of 18 day nursery colleagues who help our children to have the best start in life in a brightly refurbished modern nursery setting.

Outdoor Facilities

The nursery has its own outdoor garden which has a climbing area and pergola. There are also two automatic awnings to provide shade and shelter for the children and to ensure that children can access the outdoors in all weather conditions. We provide plenty of opportunities for physical play in our day nursery, with a large range of activities available for our children to access freely as they move between their rooms and the outdoors the day.

Parents as Partners

The parents have an information board located in the reception area which has a variety of useful information. In the various 0-3 year olds home rooms they have a feedback sheet which includes the children’s daily information of how they have been, including sleep, food, nappies and anything that they have enjoyed during the day. The 3-5 year olds day nursery carers give verbal feedback to the parent on a daily basis. Regular newsletters are sent to parents to keep them updated on up and coming events and we encourage parent participation in many of them. Parents evening are offered at regular intervals throughout the year where the child’s key person discusses the child’s development with their parents and there is also an annual survey for parents to give structured feedback on all areas of the nursery. We also conduct parent forum meetings each term where parent representatives discuss the developments of the nursery and any other key topics with the nursery Dewsbury management team. This ensures a collaborative partnership approach with our parents and we welcome all feedback to ensure we are always raising our high standards.
