Day Nursery Newcastle, Newburn

Welcome To The Co-operative Childcare

About our nursery

The Co-operative Childcare nursery Newburn is purpose built, open plan and packed full of resources to stimulate children at every stage of their development.

There are 3 spacious rooms within our day nursery catering for the needs of our babies right through to our pre-schoolers.

There is a story telling area for our children to sit and have some quiet time, and plenty of room for physical play with larger equipment as we encourage our children to build strength and mobility.

What our parents say

I highly recommend this nursery. The level of care and education my son gets from all staff is outstanding. He is always happy and excited to come to nursery and will be upset when it comes time to leave.

My Daughter previously attended this nursery, now my three year old son attends, he loves this nursery. They take great care of him and they have lots of activities and provide great one on one care when needed. The staff are very friendly and approachable, if I have ever had a concern of just needed a chat they are very understanding and caring. A Five Star nursery.

I have nothing but praise for this nursery. The staff, facilities, care, environment and activities are first class. My son loves going and has thrived in his 8 months there. I would have absolutely no hesitation in recommending Co-operative Childcare, Newburn to friends and family.

My little boy has settled into this nursery so well. All the staff are very friendly, supportive and go the extra mile to ensure my little boy has a lovely day doing things he personally enjoys. The facilities in the nursery are fantastic with a wide range of resources and fantastic outdoor space. The nursery provides everything my little boy needs for a comfortable day i.e nappies, suncream and nutritious meals daily.

Brilliant staff and well set up setting. The Setting is very interactive and encourages curiosity and provides variety. Staff are very friendly and knowledgable and keep us well informed of our child's activities and development.

The layout of the nursery building, the attitude of the staff and the varied activities all add to the learning experience at Newburn nursery.  I am extremely glad I moved my child to this fantastic nursery.

Staff are extraordinary, thank you!

Callum's Grandma C

Fantastic staff.  My granddaughter was placed with me at the age of 1, childcare has changed so much.  I don’t think I would have managed through the last 2 years without the help and support from the team.  One of the best decisions I ever made to use this nursery.

Amiee-lee's granny

The nursery offers excellent care for my children, activities, themed days, and the facilities are fantastic.  The care given is excellent by all staff, friendly and caring staff.  I can leave my children knowing that they will have a great day and will be safe and well cared for.

Joshua's mum

Excellent facilities and communication with the children and parents. My daughter enjoys it which makes our lives happier, no need to worry about her.

Amanda Morgan

My daughter comes running into the nursery on a daily basis, she is not treated any differently as she needs glasses. The care for my daughter is second to none. I love reading her personal file to see her progress and the lovely (messy) activities that are carried out daily.

Carlie T

Great Nursery, lovely staff and well balanced meals. Generally making my son a very happy child.

Melanie L

This is a pleasant, spacious and welcoming nursery. I feel confident and comfortable leaving my daughter with the professional and friendly staff.

What we do

To make your life as easy as possible and to make sure our children are getting the nutrients they need to build healthy bodies and minds all meals and snacks, which are prepared by our experienced chef, and baby produce (formula milk and nappies) are included in our fees.

In our nurseries, meal times are a social occasion where staff and children sit together, encouraging good table manners and conversation. Our older children are encouraged to be independent by making choices and serving themselves…whatever the mess!

At our nursery Newburn, we’re especially delighted with our sensory room , kitted out with a bubble lamp and various other magical sensory resources our children love to go and explore new textures and sights, play with light or simply take time out to re-charge their batteries after a hard day of learning through play.

Within the nursery we host many activity days throughout the year as we see how much value children get from these experiences. We regularly hold country days where children develop their knowledge of the world learning about flags, food, dress and culture. It’s a fantastic opportunity for making collage flags and experimenting with cooking.

We choose 8 religious festivals to celebrate throughout the year incorporating festivals that our families at nursery celebrate including Diwali, Hanukah, Ramadan, Easter and Christmas.

Our People

We have 18 childcare professionals and 1 full time chef. All colleagues hold, or are working towards, their level 3 qualifications within childcare. On top of this we have colleagues trained in autism, behaviour management, epilepsy, tube feeding, special educational needs. Furthermore we are trained in Makaton – a form of sign language that we use in the nursery to encourage communication and language.

Our Nursery Newburn Manager, Claire Robson, has worked in childcare for over 13 years and has a BA degree in Early Years as well as Early Years Professional status. The nursery management team work alongside all colleagues to mentor and support them, keeping them motivated and enthusiastic within their roles. All our day nursery staff are loyal, friendly, approachable and driven to maintain high standards.

Outdoor Facilities

The nursery provides good opportunities to find out about the natural world. The outdoor environment is designed to give the children the chance for exploration, investigation and play. There is a story telling area for the children to sit and have some quiet time, and plenty of room for physical play with larger equipment. The babies have a separate natural garden area that they are able to explore in a safe and secure environment.

There is a large car park area for parents to drop off and pick up in and the day nursery is situated on a bus route to Newcastle City Centre and the surrounding areas of Lemington and Throckley.

Parents as Partners

As well as daily feedback from your child’s key person, newsletters, daily diaries, information boards, photo books and events books we hold parents evenings twice a year. Also in our day nursery there is an opportunity to review their child’s progress it is also a time to speak to other parents and colleagues informally. We have an open door policy where parents are encouraged to view their child’s learning journals or just watch their child ‘at play’!

Parent contributions are hugely valued and acted upon to make the nursery an outstanding happy place for both adults and children.
