Welcome To The Co-operative Childcare

About our nursery

At The Co-operative Childcare we never underestimate how difficult a decision it is to leave your child in the care of others and our aim is to ensure that you have all the information you need to make this very important decision.

The Co-operative Childcare nursery is well positioned on the main hospital site in Swindon. It is a purpose built, stimulating, safe and secure environment for our children and we pride ourselves on our warm and welcoming atmosphere.

What our parents say

Staff are very warm and friendly. The manager is extremely helpful and welcoming and always willing to spend time listening to parents. The garden area is superb, lots of activities are possible within it. The communication with staff members is very good and staff turnover is very low. All dietary needs are catered for brilliantly too.

The nursery environment is lovely and the staff team are all really friendly and approachable. My children are always happy at nursery and have learnt so much. The garden is amazing and I struggle to get the children to leave!

Thank you to all nursery staff for their encouragement and compassion towards their children. Compliments towards the refurbishment of the rooms and garden.

I would like to thank you for all the support and care you and your staff have shown Emmie during the 3 and a half years she has been with you.

Since starting the nursery my 2 year old daughter has come on leaps and bounds, especially her vocabulary and confidence. Most days she doesn't want to come home! The staff are excellent, very caring and fun, taking the time to get to know the children they look after. I also like that all the food is home cooked on site. Great Nursery.

My daughter has attended the nursery since she was about ten months old and she loves it there, she is now two and a half and has built up some great friendships with the other children. This is due to the caring and friendly ethos of the nursery staff. The nursery is a place where I feel involved and my daughter does so much that she comes home for a rest!!

My son started the nursery when he was a year old. I was worried about leaving him with other people as he had only spent time with me and my mum, but the ladies in the nursery are lovely and have made me and my son really welcome. They really focus on his development an he has a great relationship with all the carers. I would highly recommend the nursery to any new members.

Fantastic nursery, perfect for us as both of us work shifts. Friendly attentive staff who are always willing to go above and beyond for our son. Highly recommend this nursery.

I feel the nursery gives the best and individualised care to each child and involves parents in all decisions.

What we do

There are many activities in addition to the core learning and play that takes place at the nursery and supports the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Framework. All our activities are planned around each child's individual needs, interests and abilities to ensure that we develop and extend each child's learning opportunities.

Our People

Our nursery team are friendly, approachable and have attended numerous training courses to enhance their knowledge, enabling them to provide the best care and enjoyable learning experiences for our children. All colleagues are qualified or working towards their qualifications and have a wealth of experience in childcare. Our Nursery Manager Tracy has worked in childcare for over 17 years and there is a dedicated, loyal team of 29 colleagues who help our children to have the best start in life in a brightly refurbished modern nursery setting.

Outdoor Facilities

The nursery has its own garden that has a separate area for our children aged under 2 years of age. The age appropriate garden areas have a variety of equipment that provide opportunities for physical play with a large range of outdoor toys and activities available for our children to access at all times.

We are conveniently located only two minutes from the main hospital building. The hospital has a direct bus route from the town centre and is part of all other main bus routes. There are drop off parking spaces outside the nursery car park available for dropping off and collecting children. The nursery is open to the general public as well as hospital staff.

Parents as Partners

The parents have an information board located in the reception area which has a variety of useful information. In the various 0-3 year olds rooms they have a feedback sheet which includes the children's daily information of how they have been, including sleep, food, nappies and anything that they have enjoyed during the day. The 3-5 year olds carers give verbal feedback to the parent on a daily basis. Regular newsletters are sent to parents to keep them updated on up and coming events and we encourage parent participation in many of them. Parent evenings are offered twice a year where the child's key person discusses the child’s development with their parents and there is also an annual survey for parents to give structured feedback on all areas of the nursery. The nursery holds a summer barbeque to allow working parents to participate and have the opportunity to meet with the nursery team and other parents in an informal, fun setting.
