Welcome to The Co-operative Childcare, Walsall Wood

About our nursery

At The Co-operative Childcare we never underestimate how difficult a decision it is to leave your child in the care of others and our aim is to ensure that you have all the information you need to make this very important decision.

Established over 19 years ago, the nursery offers a warm and welcoming environment and is situated in a converted Victorian school building.

What we do

Activities

The children have access to many activities in addition to the care learning and play that takes place at the nursery and supports the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework. The activities are planned in advanced by the child’s key worker to meet the individual learning needs of each child.

The children are able to take part in Dance and French lessons, hosted by qualified professionals, as well as walks to the local park, shops and library.

Our People

We have a friendly approachable nursery team. All our colleagues are qualified in Childcare at NVQ level 3 or above and combined we have a wealth of experience.

Our manager Debbie has worked at the nursery for 16 years and over half of our dedicated and loyal team have worked at the nursery for over 8 years. All our colleagues are prided on their ability to provide a safe and stimulating environment for the children we care for.

Outdoor Facilities

The nursery has three secure outside play areas which the children have free flow access to throughout the day. A  garden area to the rear of the nursery where children can explore and investigate their environment, have access to a large sunken sand pit, and enjoy making mud-pies in the mud kitchen. A separate playground area with play houses and plenty of opportunities for physical play with a large range of outdoor toys and activities.

We also have a growing area where children are able to experience planting and nurturing their own fruit and vegetables.

Babies have access to their own safe and secure outdoor space leading from baby room which is all undercover protecting their delicate skin  from the sun.

Parents as Partners

Our parents have an information board which is updated regularly providing advice and information and they are encouraged to share their children’s experiences with the staff who will celebrate these by displaying them on our achievement tree.

Each day parents receive feedback about their child’s day which includes verbal feedback and information books for the babies. The parents are invited to attend parent’s evenings where they are provided with detailed information about their child’s development and progress at the nursery. Regular newsletters are sent out to the parents keeping them updated on events that are taking place in the nursery.

What our parents say

My daughter attends the above nursery, I couldn't be happier, she loves it! The staff are always helpful and polite. I always feel assured when I drop her off. I know she has had a lovely day when I pick her up.

I have always found early birds to be a friendly and helpful, they are always very good with the children and Lexxi has come on leaps and bounds since starting there.
