Welcome To The Co-operative Childcare

About our nursery

At The Co-operative Childcare nurseries, we never underestimate how difficult a decision it is to leave your child in the care of others and our aim is to ensure that you have all the information you need to make this very important decision.

The Co-operative Childcare Watford is a fun, stimulating, safe and secure environment for your child and we pride ourselves on our warm and welcoming atmosphere.

What we do

The nursery Watford offers many activities in addition to the core learning and development areas of the Early Years Foundation Stage. Activities are planned by the key person and each child has their own individual learning plan to ensure that specific activities are designed to meet their needs and interests. Activities are also planned as a result of parental feedback and we involve and regularly update the parents and carers on the children's development.

The nursery runs extra-curricular activities (at a small additional charge) with French lessons for the 3-5 year olds and Music and Movement sessions for the under 3 year olds. The day nursery team also take full advantage of the location and regularly take the children on walking trips to local places of interest including the library, children's centre and local shops.

Our People

We have a highly qualified, experienced and established team at the nursery many of whom have worked here for several years. Our Watford nursery team are friendly, approachable, professional and committed to delivering high quality childcare and education. All the team are passionate about the work they do and have attended numerous training courses to develop their skills enabling them to provide the children with the best start in life.

Many of the day nursery team have exceeded their training above level 3 or are working towards professional qualifications.

Outdoor Facilities

The nursery has its own garden area which has a separate area for the 3-20 month olds, allowing the younger children to access the outdoor areas whenever they want to. The garden has a protective canopy so that the children can access the outdoors whatever the weather.

Our day nursery Watford has a growing area where the children are involved in growing their own herbs and vegetables to cook with. We have many areas of learning outdoors including a play house and a cosy area, allowing children to have some quite time if they wish. These different areas in our nursery provide children with plenty of opportunities for physical exercise and play.

Parents as Partners

The nursery Watford values its partnership with parents and aims to involve parents and carers in every aspect of the nursery. Frequent newsletters keep parents up to date with events and developments in the nursery along with an information board which is situated in the lobby area. We encourage parents to get involved in regular events at the nursery and hold frequent 'Big Breakfasts' so that parents can join the children for breakfast before heading off for the day.

In the 3-20 months old room all the children have their own Daily Diary where all the details of their day are recorded along with receiving verbal feedback from the key person. For the older children there is a communication board which displays all the children's daily information such as sleep and nappy times along with what the children have eaten. We invite parents to a Developmental Evening twice a year where they get to meet with their key person and discuss their child's learning and development in more detail.

What our parents say

My daughter has attended this nursery from the baby room all the way through to pre school, today sadly was her last day as shes now moving on to school, we have nothing but happy memories there, Alyssa loved every minute and I was able to go to work knowing she was happy and receiving high quality childcare. I have nothing but praise for the lovely staff and welcoming feel you receive when entering the nursery.

It is an amazing nursery where everyone is friendly and goes out of their way to help others out and provide the best possible learning and development for my daughter. I have never had any problems with them and am very pleased with the outstanding staff.

I would highly recommend this nursery, my 2 year old settled very quickly and loves going to play with her new friends. This is greatly down to the fun, enthusiastic, and caring staff at the nursery:-) having seen other nurseries, I was very impressed with the friendly and welcoming atmosphere throughout the whole nursery, which was very settling for my daughter and for me as a dad!

Going back to work is stressful enough let alone worrying about how your child is at nursery, I was so lucky my son settled in so well and I never had to leave him worried he was unhappy. The staff are so friendly and so good at handing over telling you what your little one has been up to, slept, eaten etc....

I feel my sons development has come on so well due to the fact he is in such a good nursery. I can't thank them all enough.

Could not send my daughter to a better nursery. The staff are fantastic. No challenge is too big or too small for the staff, they have been very supportive with my daughters potty training too. You only need to visit to see how happy the children are to know it's the place you would want to send your child. The food provided is a good healthy variety and my daughter never goes hungry! And since the refurbishment earlier in the year the garden is enjoyable in all weathers.

A wonderful team of staff who are very supportive.  Brilliant at communication and always available to talk to if you need to discuss anything.  Gave me total peace of mind while my children were there.

My two daughters were both cared for by from babies until preschool and I can't rate the nursery enough. The genuine care for the children by all the staff and particularly the low churn of staff made for an environment whereby my daughters still to this day say how much they loved it and quote things like staffname is the best.

It's tough for any mum to balance work and caring for children but knowing they are in a place where they are not only safe, learning and I get feedback on what they doing it's more important to me knowing they enjoy it and want to go each day.  Cannot rate co-operative childcare enough and would recommend to anyone looking for daycare for their children. Thank you.
