Day Nursery Woolwich

Welcome To The Co-operative Childcare

About our nursery

At The Co-operative Childcare we never underestimate how difficult a decision it is to leave your child in the care of others and our aim is to ensure that you have all the information you need to make this very important decision.

The Co-operative Childcare nursery is a fun, stimulating, safe and secure environment for your child and we pride ourselves on our warm and welcoming atmosphere.

What our parents say

I am really pleased with the service my children really like the activity. Their key worker Danielle is really good with both the twins and the manager Rebecca is very helpful with the service and information she provides. My partner and I are very happy with the service because the children's progress is coming along e.g. speech, spelling and numbers.

The staff are extremely caring and are actively happy to encourage my son's learning and development. Feedback at the end of each day is always very informative. I am happy with the experience my child receives at this nursery.

What we do

We feel that the activities provided for the children allow them to achieve and develop their skills for the future. Activities are planned to reflect their individual interests and abilities. These include babies playing with interactive toys, toddlers building with construction and the older children exploring the sand.

Children also have good opportunities to exercise and enjoy new environments as we plan regular outings to the local library or local shops.

Our People

Our nursery team are friendly, approachable, enthusiastic and passionate about the care of our children. There is a dedicated, loyal team of 16 colleagues who help our children to have the best start in life in a bright and stimulating nursery setting. All the team have attended numerous training courses to enhance their knowledge, enabling them to provide superior care and enjoyable learning experiences for our children. They are all qualified to NVQ level 3 or working towards their qualifications. Our Nursery Manager Satvinder has worked in childcare for over 18 years and has completed NVQ Level 3 in Childcare and ILM level 5 in Leadership & Management. Our deputy manager Molly has completed her degree in early childhood studies.

The team show an understanding of early learning goals and make consistent assessments of children's progress. We also help to ensure children's smooth transition to the local schools including arranging visits with parents and supporting them with the application process.

Outdoor Facilities

We have a separate play area for the babies and a large playground for the 2 to 5 year olds. Our outdoor area has a large climbing frame with slide and shaded canopies, which allows us to use the area all year round. We have a large artificial grass area along with a natural digging area and planting containers. Children are able to grow their own vegetables throughout the summer which aids their learning and helps them to understand where our food comes from. We provide plenty of opportunities for physical play with a large range of outdoor toys and activities available for the children to access at all times.

There is also a large car park area for parents to drop off and pick up at the front of the building.

Parents as Partners

The parents have an information board located in the reception area which has a variety of useful information. In the various rooms they have a feedback sheet which includes the children’s daily information of how they have been, including sleep, food, nappies and anything that they have enjoyed during the day.

We value the partnership with our parents and support the children by using home routines, particularly with the young babies. We offer a gradual settling in procedure that enables our parents to share information about their children's abilities so that they feel safe and secure in the nursery when they start. Parents are encouraged to be involved in their child’s learning by informing the nursery team about what has been taking place at home and by participating in special events. Newsletters and notice board are all used to share relevant information.

The team also make time to discuss how children have been when their parents collect them and provide written notes that detail all events of their day. Parents are also actively involved in the decision making about the provision and their children through open days, comments/suggestion box, parent questionnaire and regular review meetings.
