Welcome to London (Palmers Green) Nursery
A very warm welcome to The Co-operative Childcare.
Here you will find lots of general information that should be useful in getting
a feel for the setting, however every child is individual and you will undoubtedly
have lots of questions that relate specifically to your child’s needs, interests
and their development. A tour of our quality facilities would be highly recommended
in order to fully appreciate how the nursery operates and to see first hand the
care and attention that each child receives. To arrange a tour, simply use the contact
details on this page or pop in to the nursery itself.
At The Co-operative Childcare we never underestimate how difficult a decision it
is to leave your child in the care of others and our aim is to ensure that you have
all the information you need to make this very important decision.
Latest Ofsted report
“There is a good working partnership with parents and carers. Parents receive useful
information about the setting, including details of its policies and educational
programme. They are encouraged to be involved in their children's learning through
sharing children's interests at home. Staff exchange information with parents about
their children's progress in summary reports and at regular consultations. Parents'
views are sought through questionnaires and taken into account as part of the nursery's
self-evaluation procedures”

Our people
Our nursery team are friendly, approachable and work together to provide a secure,
happy and safe environment for our children. They build strong relationships with
parents and their key children and provide happy and enjoyable learning experiences.
All our colleagues are qualified or working towards their qualifications and have
many years childcare experience between them. Our Nursery Manager Selen has worked
in childcare for over 8 years and holds a Foundation Degree in Early Years. Selen
is supported by a committed, loyal team of 20 colleagues who understand that children
learn and develop best when they are safe, supported and cared for. The team work
together to help our children to have the best possible start in life in a brightly
refurbished modern nursery setting.
Indoor facilities
The Co-operative Childcare nursery is a fun, stimulating, safe and secure environment
for your child and we pride ourselves on our warm and welcoming atmosphere.
There are 3 spacious home rooms within our nursery, split into the following age
groups: one room for 3 months – 2 year olds, one room for 2-3 year olds and one
room for the 3-5 year olds. The nursery is all on one level with easy access for
children and adults alike.
Outdoor facilities
The nursery has two outdoor areas both with soft rubber safety surfaces. All our
children use the gardens every day and there is a wide variety of equipment to physically
challenge the children including scooters and trikes, balls and ropes. For our younger
children there are cosy corners and floor activities for their enjoyment and stimulation.
The nursery has plenty of free parking both on the road it is located on and all
side roads. We are a short distance from Bounds Green underground station as well
as Bowes Park station for a convenient commute into London. We are also conveniently
located only a few minutes’ walk from a main bus route
Activities
There are many activities and play that takes place at the nursery and supports
the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Framework.
Activities are planned for all age groups to ensure a flexible and balanced curriculum
with a combination of busy and quiet activities, indoor and outdoor play. The children
are also actively encouraged to make their own choices and initiate their own play.
Food
At The Co-operative Childcare we offer a comprehensive package and provide all nappies,
formula milk and food (breakfast, mid morning snack, lunch, mid afternoon snack,
tea). Our experienced chef has been with us for over 8 years and has extensive catering
experience. She prepares our home made lunch and tea every day using fresh produce.
This supports our ethics and values of being a co-operative and gives the children
the nutrition they need to ensure they grow healthily whilst in our care. We also
cater for all dietary requirements, allergies and cultural foods. Children always
have access to fresh drinking water.
Parent involvement
The parents have an information board located in the reception area which has a
variety of useful information. Our younger children aged up to 3 years of age have
a feedback sheet which includes the children’s daily information of how their day
has been, including sleep, food, nappies and anything that they have particularly
enjoyed during the day. The 3-5 year olds carers give verbal feedback to the parent
on a daily basis. Regular newsletters are sent to parents to keep them updated on
up and coming events and we encourage parent participation in many of them. Parent
evenings are offered at regular intervals throughout the year where the child’s
key person discusses the child’s development with their parents and there is also
an annual survey for parents to give structured feedback on all areas of the nursery.
A word from the nursery manager
“We have a professional, dedicated team who are genuine committed to their key children
and families they work with. We pride ourselves on the happy, warm, family atmosphere
within our nursery and parents often tell us that this is one of the key factors
in their decision to leave their child in our care. Our approach is friendly and
we encourage a partnership approach with our parents to ensure that together we
give our children the best possible start in life”
